ELEV4TE.
UNDERGRADUATE SENIOR CAPSTONE.

DESCRIPTION.
In South Lake Union, Washington, there are a variety of buildings with programming related to research, mixed-use, retail, and medical. Many of the designs are community-focused and vary in materials. The given challenge was to create a building with art and science as the main programming.

ELEV4TE was a multidisciplinary senior capstone project that consisted of a team of four architecture and five construction management students. The two disciplines worked together over the course of a semester to design, produce, and present the project. Four driving factors that inspired the architectural design included (1) the main programming tailored to art and research (2) utilizing daylighting in solar panels and open areas (3) applying materials similar to that of the communities (4) creating an ease of construction on a complex design.
